GLOBE Orchestra Program

The GLOBE Academy offers a string orchestra class to students in grades 6-7.  We are starting our second year of the program in 2017-2018 school year and look forward to having over 35 members learning to play violin, viola, cello, and bass. Students work as a family to prepare to perform at school and community events and look we forward to participating in adjudication festivals, motivational trips, collaborating with other schools and performers, and attending and performing concerts over the next school year.
A Note from Mrs. Mashburn:
Welcome! I have been teaching music at GLOBE since we opened in 2013 and enjoy working in such an accomplished school with such dedicated teachers, talented and caring students, and a supportive parent and local community who make it all possible! This site is to provide information for parents and students, including our mission, information on the program, meeting and performance dates, field trip information, our handbook, and files and links that will be helpful. Please feel free to contact me at with any questions you may have.

About Ms. Mashburn:
Ms. Mashburn began her musical journey at the age of 4 in a group piano class and has not stopped picking up instruments since then. She attended Georgia Southern and Georgia State University, where she received a B.M. and M.M. in banging on things (Percussion Performance).  After 16 years of teaching music in public schools and private lessons, as well as performing with wind ensembles, symphonies, and rock bands, Ms. Mashburn knows that her heart is the most full when her students feel they have accomplished something they didn't think was possible...and she hopes they leave with an experience that helps shape their lives.
