Admission for the 2018-19 School Year
Due to the rigorous nature of our language immersion program, The GLOBE Academy only accepts applications for Kindergarten, First Grade, and Sixth Grade. Our 2018-19 lottery was held on March 1, 2018 and we have a waiting list for Kindergarten, first grade and sixth grade. You can still apply, but your child will go to the end of the waiting list. We do not except to get to the end of our lists before the end of the 2018-19 school year. If you would still like to apply, please complete the lottery application below and submit it in person to our Lower Campus (2225 Heritage Drive, Atlanta 30345) during summer business hours - Monday - Thursday, 8:30 AM - 2:00 PM.
Admission to The GLOBE Academy is through a random lottery. All students who reside in the DeKalb County School District
are eligible to apply. (Residents of the City of Atlanta or City of Decatur are not eligible.) Applicants for Kindergarten must be 5 years old on or before September 1, 2018. Applicants for First Grade must be 6 years old on or before September 1, 2018 regardless of completing Kindergarten at a private school.
Open Enrollment - February 5-16, 2018
Completed lottery applications for kindergarten, first, and sixth grades will be accepted at Lower Campus (2225 Heritage Drive, Atlanta 30345) – during Open Enrollment February 5-16 on Weekdays, 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Applications will also be accepted on Wednesday, February 7 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. and Saturday, February 10 from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Applications may not be mailed or emailed.
Applications received after the Open Enrollment period will be put at the end of the grade level waiting list in the order they are received.
Lottery - March 1, 2018
The admissions lottery will be held on Thursday, March 1, 2018 at 6:30 p.m. and is open to the public. You do not need to be present at the lottery to secure your child’s acceptance. Selected students will be notified by email by Friday, March 2, 2018. Lottery results will be posted on The GLOBE Academy website and at the main entrance at Lower Campus.
Registration Deadline – March 30, 2018
All accepted applicants must submit enrollment forms and all required supporting documentation within 30 calendar days after notification of admission. Failure to comply with this deadline could result in the student’s admission offer to be canceled and offered to another student on the waiting list.
Accepted families have 30 calendar days to register their student with the following documents:
• Original or state-certified copy of child’s birth certificate OR other acceptable proof of age (see registrar for more info).
• Child’s Social Security Card (We will photocopy it and return it to you.) OR Social Security waiver
• Parent’s driver’s license or other government issued photo ID
• Proof of residency - one of the following (No other documents will be accepted.):
o Signed copy of current lease or rental agreement
o Current mortgage statement (No more than 30 days old)
o Current utility bill - Gas, water, or electric only. No more than 30 days old. We cannot accept phone or cable bills.
o If the parent/guardian is not the homeowner or lessee, he/she can submit an Affidavit of Residency
(see page 5 for list of required
• Georgia Immunization (Form 3231) – must be marked “Complete for K-6th Grade Attendance”
• Vision, Hearing, Dental, Nutrition Health Form (DPH form 3300) – all four sections must be completed.
Failure to register with all supporting documentation by the enrollment deadline will result in your child’s enrollment being forfeited and his/her spot given to the next student on the waiting list.
