Come visit Charles McDaniel Park to play on the play structure that was recently installed as part of Phase I of The GLOBE Academy’s playground renovation project.
Fundraising efforts for Phase I successfully brought in more than $68,000, thanks to the support of the Parent Teacher Community Council (PTCC) Fundraising Contributions, GLOBE’s school administration, and the Board of Directors. Additionally, the Lowe’s Charitable and Educational Foundation and Publix Super Markets Charities provided funding to support the project.
As a result, the two old play structures and the fitness equipment at the park were removed over the summer. The first of two new play structures was installed, which completed Phase I of the project on July 26, 2019.
Phase II of the project includes installing a second larger play structure and replacing the two basketball goals. The second play structure has a bigger footprint that complements and integrates well into the new smaller playground equipment. Fundraising for Phase II is now complete after GLOBE received a $40,400 Charter School Facilities Grant through the Georgia Department of Education. The school contributed the remaining budget. It is anticipated that GLOBE will purchase and install the equipment for Phase II in Fall 2019.
Once the project is complete, the new play equipment will use more of the available play space at the Charles McDaniel Park. The playground will provide a safe, engaging place for students to play with innovative designs that promote daily physical activity and overall fitness.
