As part of GLOBE’s Strategic Planning process, we are actively connecting with top DLI schools internationally and nationally to further strengthen and grow our language program and model.
Global Village Academy Aurora in Aurora, Colo., like GLOBE, is an immersion school with Mandarin, Spanish and French; is a stand-alone dual language immersion program; and has two campuses — one for grades K-3 and another for its 4th through 8th grades.
Sandra Bea, elementary principal and executive director of Immersion, strengthened Global Village Academy Aurora’s language program from the ground up first as an immersion teacher, then an immersion coach and elementary principal, and finally executive director of Immersion. Our Language Coordinator Sandra Daniel spoke of GLOBE’s experience building up its language program year by year through clear program goals and expectations. GLOBE was able to share its A/B day model and how we foster partner teacher collaboration.
Ms. Bea brought her third-grade team to GLOBE to share and observe best practices in partner team planning and collaboration, and to see first-hand how the model is positively impacting student achievement at GLOBE. GLOBE model teacher collaboration teams, Comstock/Tarazona, Holmes/Tendon, and Shuai/West hosted Global Villages Academy in their classrooms to share how they collaborate as a team.
Global Village Academy Aurora teachers were excited to see A/B partner planning, and GLOBE teachers were thrilled to showcase GLOBE DLI life with teachers who live the same experience and share a similar school mission and vision.
GLOBE’s Assistant Head of School at Upper Campus Judy Limor shared what makes UC run smoothly in scheduling both an Elementary and Middle School Program. We spoke our goals in the upcoming years to expand program offerings and further strengthen our language program. Ms. Bea shared Global Village Academy Aurora’s course offerings as well as the unique clubs and programs their Upper School students are able to participate in.
We are excited to partner, share ideas, learn, and collaborate with schools who believe in our mission of educating global citizens who will positively impact the world. We appreciate Global Village Academy Aurora for partnering with us and look forward to future collaborations.
