Curriculum

The GLOBE Academy will follow the Common Core Standards and the Georgia Performance Standards as its core curricula. These curricula specify broad content area benchmarks for grades K-8, providing a road map for skills and competencies to be acquired in each core academic area at each grade level.

The standards described above will be mastered through a variety of research-based, innovative approaches to learning. First, The GLOBE Academy will implement a dual-language immersion instructional model in which children will encounter core content in both English and a second world language (French, Mandarin or Spanish) on alternating days.

Second, The GLOBE Academy will utilize a constructivist instructional model that employs workshop-based learning for reading/language arts and math, as well as a project-based learning for social studies and science. These approaches will allow teachers to differentiate instructional opportunities for individual children and small groups and simultaneously foster critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

The three primary components of The GLOBE Academy’s curricular framework are depicted below. These components each play different—yet complimentary—roles that support students in meeting rigorous academic challenges and other goals and objectives.
